Well, the clutch wouldn’t bleed on the Fiat so I switched jobs. Fiat out, Spitfire in and masked ready for paint!
It’s only taken 9 months of filling and sanding. 9. Months.
If it’s not flat I’ll cry.
Looks good though :) it's a bit odd seeing it outside with wheels and stuff...

Youre slowly building a really enviable collection of modified cars. The Fiat is engine swapped and getting some TLC, this is pretty crazy.

Slowly is the optimal word given the Fiat’s still not running ;) but they’ll be awesome when they’re done.
How’s progress on your Fran kenskoda CAD drawings? That'll be well up there when it's done too ;)

I’ve given up for the moment until I have both cars together for more measuring and standing aro und staring at them with a cup of tea. I want it to actually be solid and not a total deathtrap so it requires a bit of thought. Plus I have to be careful not to overengineer and make it weigh 2 tonnes haha.

Yeah I suppose you’re off to a good start with a mech eng degree, but you see a lot of first time fabricators add a load of weight in places that add zero stiffness to where structures actually see force. I know I did it before I actually started trying to visualise load paths.

Yeah there's definitely going to be the temptation to add gussets and bracing everywhere. The thing I lack is experience, so it's likely I'll get stuff wrong from time to time in this project. Should be a good learning experience though.

Nah I think you’ll get off to a pretty good start given your background. I think people normally add in gussets at random to begin with. You’ll be fine ;)

Haha I hope so.
